About the Press
FREE Publishing was born as a response to several rising needs in an increasingly digital world. We found the established publishing model to be more and more inadequate for the reality of information consumption in the 21st century. More and more people prefer books in digital format. Both information consumers and content producers want to get the information and content across as quickly as possible. This, in turn, gives rise to new issues regarding the accuracy of the information being published, and new solutions for fact checking and information quality assurance. FREE aims to provide solutions that harness new technologies and take advantage of new possibilities to best meet the needs of all parties involved in this process of information transfer.
Very early on we discovered that important works published through the traditional publishing model, under the traditional copyrighting system were at risk. Few copies of these works were available to begin with and they were all hard copies. Under the traditional copyright system these works could not be reprinted for at least 70 years after the death of the original authors. Free Publishing aims to provide a solution for authors who are interested in the preservation of they work for generations to come by publishing digital second editions of their works.
